Canterbury Park / Andrea ThelenSHAKOPEE, MN—JULY 31, 2010—Seis It Fast, trained by leading quarter horse trainer Ed Ross Hardy, won the $28,000 North Central Quarter Horse Racing Association Futurity Saturday at Canterbury Park. Chicks Gold Metal ran second and Rc Riptide ran third. Seis It Fast covered the 350-yards in 18.20 seconds. After being bumped and cut off at the break, the two-year-old TRES SEIS gelding fought through traffic to beat Chicks Gold Metal by a head. “He didn’t start out real good, but he came on” Hardy said. “He’s got a bright future. He’s a solid, tough and good horse to be around.” Seis It Fast is owned by Bob and Julie Petersen of Cokato, Minnesota earned $14,000 to nearly doubled his earnings to $29,600. He also won the Minnesota Stallion Breeders' Futurity on June 20th. Winning jockey Ry Eikleberry commented on the ride: “Sometimes if you don’t break well, you can still win” he said. “You do all you can. If they listen, you have a shot.” Racing for his breeder Michael Gray, Chicks Gold Medal earned $5,600 for finishing second. The gelding was ridden by Jesse Vega for trainer Shane. Rc Riptide owned by Victor Hanson, was ½ length back in third. Also saddled by Hanson, Gus Rincon had the riding call to pickup $2,800 for the show. The favored Seis It Fast paid $3.00, $2.80 and $2.40. Chicks Gold Metal paid $14.60 and $8.00. Rc Riptide returned $6.60. Completing the field were Rutoasted Ir, Flyin Lajolla, Okey Dokey Eyes, Mr Scrutinizer To U, Divas Choice and Cs Arc Light. Wavin Bye was scratched. |
