Ruidoso Downs PhotoRUIDOSO DOWNS, NM—JULY 22, 2010—Dominyun and Feature Honor pulled away from their rivals in the fourth of seventh trials to set the top-two qualifying marks to the $60,210 John Deere New Mexico Juvenile Challenge at Ruidoso Downs on Thursday afternoon. The qualifiers return for the John Deere New Mexico Juvenile Challenge on August 7. Bobby Cox’s homebred Dominyun and Carmina LLC’s Feature Honor hooked up in a battle over the sloppy track with the B. Russel Hadley-ridden Dominyun winning by a head. Dominyun was timed in :17.280 for the 350 yards while Feature Honor was credited with a :17.331 time. The Jim Boss-trained Feature Honor, by FEATURE MR JESS, made his first start in the United States after winning two starts in Mexico , including a victory in a $32,500 stakes race. West Texas Futurity third-place finisher Fast Movin Vic won the seventh trial in :17.461 for the third-fastest qualifying time. The MIGHTY INVICTUS gelding came into the John Deere New Mexico Juvenile Challenge trials after racing in the Ruidoso Juvenile. Seventh-fastest qualifier Features Lucky Charm by FEATURE MR JESS is owned by William Fowler, Jr. John Buchanan saddled with Larry Payne riding.
