Lone Star Park PhotoGRAND PRAIRIE, TX—NOVEMBER 6, 2009— Vital Winner took every inch the 550 yard JEH Stallion Station Handicap to win the $15,000 stakes at Lone Star Park on Friday night. Racing for the red-hot stable of Debra Gotovac, the five-year-old gelding covered the distance in :26.892 seconds while earning a 106 speed index. Saddled by Bradley Bolen, the Easy Winning Jet gelding got off to a slow start and was will out of it with fifty yards to go. Jockey Alex Baldillez, Jr. hustled the gray to a head win over All Liquored Up and Mr La Bubba for the win worth $8,550. All Liquored Up is a 3-year-old LEAVING MEMORIES gelding racing for Sally Box and trained by C. Dwayne Gilbreath. Ridden by Jose Amador Alvarez, he picked up $2,550. Another head off the leaders but two in front of the field was the 4-year-old FEATURE MR JESS gelding Mr La Bubba. Racing for Newton and Grisham Wilmes, the sorrel was saddled by Ed Hardy and ridden by Tad Leggett. Completing the field were Principal Feature, Jess Jones, Six Moons Streakin, Sheza Bright Wood, Poise N Pepper and Check Cathy. Lone Star Park’s 2009 Quarter Horse Fall Meeting of Champions runs from Sept. 25 to Nov. 28. After opening weekend on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 25-26, racing will be held every Thursday through Saturday, except Thursday, Nov. 26 when there will be no live racing due to the Thanksgiving holiday.
