Lone Star Park PhotoGRAND PRAIRIE, TX—NOVEMBER 7, 2009—Point Of Deception, owned and trained by Javier Contreras, finished first in a field of seven to win the 11th Running of the $25,000 B.F. Phillips Jr. Handicap, for accredited Texas-bred three-year-olds and upward, over a fast track at Lone Star Park on Saturday night. With jockey Adalberto Candanosa aboard, the brown son of FEATURE MR JESS dug in determinedly to win by a head over Miss Kips Streakin while covering the 400-yard distance in 19.430 seconds to earn a speed index of 105. Cashinginmydreams finished another head back in third. With the win, Point of Deception improved his lifetime record to four wins from 13 starts and increased his career earnings to $51,162. Joe Kirk Fulton bred brown gelding in Texas from the Special Effort mare Daring Deption. Point of Deception paid $8.20, $3.60, $2.80, runner-up Miss Kips Streakin returned $3.00, $2.60 and Cashinginmydreams paid $3.20 to show. Sixes Sign, Executive Looks, Kota Shan, and Streakin Illusively completed the order of finish. Lone Star Park’s 2009 Quarter Horse Fall Meeting of Champions runs from Sept. 25 to Nov. 28. After opening weekend on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 25-26, racing will be held every Thursday through Saturday, except Thursday, Nov. 26 when there will be no live racing due to the Thanksgiving holiday.
